As part of the L'Humanité Numérique 2019 conference series (organised by culture&rencontre in conjunction with the University of Geneva), Human Design Group will be hosting a talk on the theme of Affective Computing: how does your computer love you? by Guillaume Chanel (Dr), Human Design Group Consultant (Human Sciences Data Scientist) and Researcher in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, UNIGE.
We've all raged at a machine that didn't react as expected. This is because our interactions with these objects are very different from human interactions. Having machines that could detect our emotions based on a number of cues (facial expressions, tone of voice, blushing cheeks) would probably enable us to communicate more naturally with them. But if machines could understand our emotions, could they respond better to our expectations? Could they join our social relationships or even modify them?
