Intervention

Human Design Group worked with IRSN (Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nationale) to carry out an in-depth analysis of some fifteen Safety Significant Events in EDF's PWR plants in operation, from the perspective of Organisational and human factors (FOH) for :

  • Contribute to the annual SSE report drawn up by the SEFH (Human Factors Research Department),
  • To guide the specific themes presented to the Standing Groups or the themes for analysis in subsequent years.

In particular, our experts contributed their’Assessment of Human Factors and their experience in the nuclear field to :

  • Analyse the faulty states and the human, collective or organisational lines of defence that did not make it possible to prevent, recover from or mitigate the consequences of the EHS (FOH partnership and IRSN technical experts),
  • Carry out a critical analysis of the corrective actions implemented and assess their relevance and likely effectiveness in the light of the existing operating context.

Results

These human factors assessment led to the drafting of Summary Analysis Sheets (SAS) and the presentation of the analysis of a number of SSEs to members of the SEFH department.

Le work programme for the integration of Human factors in the design of HMI and command control was approved by all the CNEN departments concerned and by NNB (Nuclear New Bulder). Implementation of this work programme has also begun with the drafting of the «HF input matrix» and the «HF risk significance assignment».
