Workstation ergonomics

Need

Human Design Group optimises the ergonomics of workstations dedicated to the assembly of lenses for spectacles

  • A workstation for assembling lenses for spectacles that can be integrated into all these workshops (France, USA, UK, Canada);
  • Improving operator comfort by offering a workstation ergonomics adapted to the specific anthropometric characteristics of the region;
  • Optimising operator performance and production quality.

Intervention

  • Carrying out an immersion (interviews, activity analysis and spot checks) within the Essilor group's workshops in order to gather the operational requirements of the agents in terms of workstation ergonomics ;
  • Carry out a comparative analysis of practices and the’workstation ergonomics within the Essilor group, at international level, in order to map out best practices;
  • Set up a participative approach involving future users in defining the new workstation;
  • Produce a prototype to validate the design and ergonomics of the workstation through user testing;
  • Project management assistance for the industrialisation of the substation.

Results

  • Provision of a detailed technical specification (with ergonomic justification) for the layout and design of the’workstation ergonomics assembly of lenses for spectacles ;
  • Objective assessment of results, focusing on productivity, operator comfort and lens fitting quality.
