Man-Machine Teaming

Need

Rethinking the autonomy of machines and their interaction with humans

MMT is an initiative launched and funded by the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA). It is led by Dassault Aviation and Thales to create an innovative and sovereign ecosystem in the field of Artificial Intelligence and new Man/Machine relations applied to combat aeronautics.

Human Design Group brings its expertise in cognitive sensors and its knowledge of the design and human factors certification of complex systems.

Intervention

- Ergonomic specifications for the implementation of a virtual assistant prototype in a Virtual Reality environment

- Identification and promotion of the main indicators for measuring the quality of pilot/virtual assistant cooperation (e.g. workload, situation awareness, operational criticality, frustration, etc.).

Results

- Development of an experimental operational scenario involving pilots in stressful situations

- Development of the protocol and experimental plan, taking into account external and logistical constraints for carrying out the test over one day (the test is carried out on a nomadic VR platform managed by the experimental team).

- Proposed plan to prevent the risks associated with cyber kinetosis and maintain a security and integrity envelope for test pilots
