The Musketeers

Evaluation of the Group's future intranet

Need

Conduct user test sessions with Les Mousquetaires employees to validate its design

As part of the development of their future intranet, Les Mousquetaires wanted to identify potential usability problems as early as possible in the design cycle (mock-up stage) and make changes to optimise the site's ease of use.

In addition, Les Mousquetaires wanted to involve people who were geographically remote in the remote user test, so as to be in line with the future user population of the intranet.

Intervention

As part of this collaboration, Human Design Group took charge of :

  • A preliminary expert assessment to identify ergonomic problems at an initial stage and prepare the design for the next phase. remote user testing by setting up the evaluation protocol;
  • The organisation, implementation and operation of the remote user testing using the «PlateusNet» tool. The tests were administered individually, from a distance, directly in the user's workplace under natural conditions;
  • At the end of the remote user testing semi-structured telephone interviews to add a qualitative approach to the quantitative approach.

Results

In line with Les Mousquetaires' expectations, the use of a remote user testing has enabled :

  • A diagnosis of the ergonomics of the future intranet;
  • The implementation of recommendations, corrections and significant improvements in the areas of navigation, vocabulary, behaviour and interface mechanisms; ;
  • The involvement of many remote users from the earliest stages of designing their intranet;
  • Identifying the aspects requiring increased communication to prepare for the introduction and acceptance of the future intranet.

What's more, the remote user testing carried out on the basis of mock-ups from the very first phases of the intranet's design, has enabled us to limit the costs associated with the corrections made to optimise ease of use and maintain development timescales.
