Saint-Gobain

Specification of an augmented reality application

Need

Human design Group supports Saint-Gobain in the specification of its augmented reality application Weber Therm Etudes

As part of the development of new services for tradesmen to help them prepare and plan façade renovations, Saint-Gobain / Weber is designing a new tool based on augmented reality solutions.

As the functional prototype of the website (in responsive design) had highlighted problems of ease of use, Saint-Gobain / Weber wanted to launch an ergonomic audit of the interface in order to optimise the user experience by simplifying navigation and user interaction while adapting it to mobile use on a tablet.

Intervention

Human Design Group carried out the ergonomic diagnosis of the interface and specified the ergonomic and graphic evolutions of the service:

  • Framing and analysis of the tool's use-cases ;
  • Ergonomic audit of the interface's functional prototype to identify areas for improvement based on objective ergonomic criteria, Web HMI standards and applicable norms: diagnosis focusing on ease of navigation, guidance within the interface, structuring and organisation of content and ease of use of functions;
  • Mock-up in Axure and GUI specifications of the interface changes to be taken into account to correct the problems identified during the ergonomic audit;
  • Setting up iteration and validation meetings with the business;
  • Graphic adaptation of the interface to the new Weber corporate identity.

Results

  • Report summarising the ergonomic audit, detailing the usability problems identified and describing the HMI solutions to be implemented by the development teams to optimise the ease of use of the service;
  • Interactive, dynamic html model illustrating proposed HMI solutions based on typical usage scenarios.
