The aim of the intervention is to understand and learn from the predominant factors in near misses, incidents or accidents involving Organisational and human factors.

Intervention

Human Design Group brings its Human Factors expertise to SUEZ Environnement for a study of the factors involved in accidents involving Organisational and human factors. The study identified the co-occurrence of causal factors and proposed remedial solutions.

The tasks performed are as follows:

  • Field surveys in search of conditions of occurrence ;
  • Analysis of feedback databases from both a statistical and qualitative point of view; ;
  • Identifying accident-causing factors ;
  • Definition of a methodology for statistical analysis of non-fatal accident databases (simple statistical analysis and multiple correspondence factor analysis).

Results

The implementation of this methodology has enabled SITA to identify the co-occurrence of causal factors and to raise the company's awareness of the risks associated with these factors. Organisational and human risks. Recommendations concerning technical, organisational, HMI and procedural improvements for the operation and design of new systems, as well as for the development of a safety and security culture, were issued.
