Need

Definition of the layout of the SONATRACH supervision room

SPIE Oil & Gas called on the expertise of Human Design Group to assist with a project to modernise the control room at an Algerian petrochemical plant operated by SONATRACH. The project involves digitising the facility's supervision systems.

In addition to proposing a control room adapted to the operational needs of the train drivers and complying with the standards in force, one of the challenges of the project was to propose a layout design offering the best quality/price ratio (frugal design) in an extremely short timeframe.

Intervention

Human design Group has implemented an Agile co-design approach to enable stakeholders to rapidly converge on a consensus project.
The process was structured around the following phases:

  • Gathering needs through interviews
  • Understanding the social and cultural particularities of the project
  • Creation of trend charts to define the aesthetic direction of the project with the client
  • Drawing up a specification file for the layout of future facilities supervision areas

Results

Human Design Group produced a Design Book for SPIE Oil & Gas and all the elements needed to complete the project (Folio of plans, 3D visuals, VR visit, BE physical environment studies, ergonomic justifications).
