A new PhD thesis in Cognitive Science completed at Bertin Ergonomie

We are delighted to announce that Viviane Perret has just submitted her PhD thesis entitled: «Development and validation of ergonomic criteria for human–simple system interactions». Commenced in 2013 (in partnership with AIRBUS and the CLLE-LTC Research Unit at the University of Toulouse), this research aims to enable Bertin Ergonomie to strengthen its expertise in the design and certification of complex systems using a systemic approach (Morin, 2015).

The current digital revolution must prompt ergonomics to address the issue of complexity. Indeed, the increasingly close integration of interconnected systems – leading to talk of ‘systems of systems’ – is giving rise to complex interactive situations in many areas of human activity. This thesis aims to provide a methodological framework for understanding complexity from a human factors perspective.
