| Our Keynote (paper) offers a review of the latest theories in cognitive science concerning the multimodal nature of cognition. Drawing on this state-of-the-art research, the paper introduces a dedicated, user-centred design and evaluation process for multimodal flight decks. This process is called CONTACT, which stands for Cockpit Natural Interaction. The entire process is described step by step, starting with the analysis of Needs for a new multimodal interaction project until the identification of the multimodal solutions, moving on from the description of the pilot’s intentions, the perceptual-motor experience and capacities and the selection of options. |
