Bertin Ergonomie is collaborating with the IRSN on a new research thesis focusing on the safety of hospital equipment

The focus of this theoretical research is specifically on the adoption of technological innovations in radiotherapy by radiotherapy technicians. This research question arises from the current context in external radiotherapy, where treatment equipment has been undergoing constant renewal for the past fifteen years or so. Whilst these new technologies offer undeniable benefits for patients’ health, they also raise concerns regarding the safety of care: automation may entail the risk of healthcare staff losing control of the process. In this context, gaining a better understanding of how healthcare staff adopt new technologies is a key issue for the safety of care.
